Doha, 1 December 2011- Qatar National Bank (QNB), the leading financial institution in the State of Qatar, has been confirmed as the Official Bank of the 20th World Petroleum Congress(WPC) being held in Doha from 4-8 December 2011.
QNB , said its sponsorship of the 5-day Congress and Exhibition is part of its commitment to contributing to Qatar's growth and development through major economic events and projects such as the WPC that raise the country's profile.
QNB strives to be an active participant in such major events and also plays a significant role in the country's financial sector, lending experience and key advisory services to infrastructure projects.
Qatar's many energy-related industries and projects represent the backbone of the country's diversifying economy and include many undertakings in the oil and gas and associated sectors such as condensates, petrochemicals and fertilizers.
QNB’s sponsorship of this congress, the biggest oil, gas and energy summit in the world, underlines the significance of this event to the global market, in addition to the great role the sector plays in Qatar's ongoing development as the bedrock that supports the diversification of the country's economic landscape.
QNB also aims through its participation in the 20th WPC as a key national stakeholder to help drive more awareness of the State of Qatar's role and global position as a leader in many aspects of the industry including LNG, and GTL fuels, among others.
The WPC, by extension of the fact that it is being hosted in Qatar, also highlights the global contributions of the energy companies and associated companies operating in Qatar.
The wide-ranging Technical Program of the 5-day congress will recognize the scientific, technological and professional achievements of the oil and gas sector. The topics will reflect the 20th WPC’s official theme: ”Energy Solutions for All: Promoting Cooperation, Innovation and Investment”.
The technical program also includes a broad variety of posters, roundtable discussions, special sessions, best practice keynotes, and plenary sessions with the confirmed participation of high-ranking industry and government authorities.
Some of the world's biggest names in oil and gas will be attending the 20th WPC including global Ministers and CEOs as well as many experts specializing in the sector.
The 20th WPC in Doha is set to be the biggest in WPC history with around 4000 delegates, 500 reporters and more than 550 top exhibitors expected to attend the event.
On the sidelines of the event, an associated exhibition will also be held, with the participation of the national committees of the World Petroleum Council.
Hosting the 20th WPC is a great honor for the State of Qatar which is growing in importance as a center of excellence and leader in the production of LNG as well as GTL fuels, in addition to role as one of the world's most important producers of fertilizers and petrochemicals.
