Doha, 21 October 2009 – As an extension of its continuing support for initiatives that support the growth and development of society, QNB Al Islami donated QR750,000 to the Ifaf project which is being organised by the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services, known commonly as RAF, in association with media partners, Al Sharq newspaper.
The contribution from QNB Al Islami, brings the total money raised by Ifaf to QR13.741 million, or 27.5% of a total projected target of QR50 million which the foundation aims to raise by the end of the campaign.
QNB Al Islami’s support of this project is part of the Bank’s commitment to contribute positively to charitable projects that benefit the people of Qatar and prove beneficial to enhancing the social fabric of the country.
The Ifaf project aims to help young Qataris pay for their weddings and will provide up to 1000 deserving candidates with QR50,000 each, to cover the associated costs, effectively helping them build stable families and contribute effectively to the growth of the nation.
The initiative has already seen extensive contributions from various segments of the Qatari economy and will help the young citizens benefiting from the program build new families on solid foundations and flourish within the community, as well as contribute to the continuing development of the State of Qatar.
Sheikh Ayidh Al Qahtani, General Manager of the RAF foundation, in a statement thanked QNB Al Islami for this generous donation to support the Ifaf project.
The foundation also recently launched awareness campaigns that teach attendees the basic tenets of starting a new family, whilst giving them practical guidance on how to achieve balance and happiness in their family lives.
